Todays Macron finds
Todays Macron finds
Quite a good day at Bolton, green 27c for £1.50 , pre-war Dinky 24f Sportsman for £1.00(sadly missing headlights) and a Kemlows car ramp for £0.50.

Re: Todays Macron finds
Hello Moston, nice finds but the Dinky with front bumper overiders and side-lights on the front wings is usually attributed to it being the Bentley version which of course is what the #24f 'Sportsman Coupe' morphed into during 1935. If the sides of the front wings are really deep then this is definitely the #24f, but if the are shallow, then this is the Bentley. Can we have some pictures of this showing the side of the car, many thanks.

Hi Ghosty and Fixer,
Thanks for the replies and I have posted a few more pics as requested. As far as the Sportsman/Bentley is concerned, I must admit that you are probably right Ghosty as I don't know a lot about Dinky toys and used Nicks Guide to identify what I thought it was. I don't know what the sides of the front wings are meant to look like but hopefully the pic may help in identifying it.
As far as the 27c goes it is complete apart from the tip of the towhook is missing and there is some paint loss mainly on the wings/roof, but at £1.50 I would buy them all day long.

Re: Todays Macron finds
Thanks Moston for the extra picture and now I can see it, the side skirting of the front wing is confirming it as a Bentley, what I have called 'shallow' wing in my earlier post. The wheel design also has what was supposed to be a representation of a 'Hub-Cap' making these wheels generally termed as 'Ridged' as opposed to the earlier 'Smooth' wheels.
Despite being chipped and missing a headlight or Two, these models are full of charm and everybody who collects model cars should have a few original Dinky Toys in their collection, because they are historically significant.
Nice one, thanks for showing it here.

Re: Todays Macron finds
Well done, most folks who look here will never have a better green 27c than yours! Not hard to get replacement headlamps to glue onto exisitng grille if you want to make Bentley look complete
Re: Todays Macron finds
Thanks SMS88, I am very fortunate as this is my fourth green 27c and I am certainly thinking of getting a new grille for the Bentley and maybe even replacement white tyres as I think the early Dinky's look good with them.
