Nice item, looks like it was made in Kiev. I have a 1/43 Volga which was also made in Kiev. It is finished in the same colour as your Mercedes and has the same wheels. It is rather cruder than the more usual Saratov-made 1/43 Volgas.

Is KNIB with mirror N Russian for Kiev then???

The models that included the Mercedes-Benz 230 SL, were manufactured by the Vatutin Toy Factory (Kiev, Ukraine), during the mid-70's, exactly when can only be guessed-at, by trying to find out when the tooling was available for further casting in Russia, I believe around 1976-77, but if any forum members know better, then please do tell us, obscure toys and models like these are great fun tracking down who and when they were available.
