I was working on a little beater 45a Vauxhall Victor. Everything was going well, the body had no flaws and painted up nicely. Then, I found a nice set of metal wheels to replace the worn plastic ones. All I needed to do was straighten the bent tow hitch.
I usually use a little alcohol lamp to heat the metal, but this time I was having a hard time getting the hitch warm enough. I grabbed my propane torch and figured a couple passes over the hitch would do the trick. Unfortunatly for me (and the Vauxhall's base) I failed to notice I had a bottle of Mapp gas on the torch. Things quickly began going "not so well" and I melted off the back half of the base as fast as you can say "fail."
Now I'm looking for someone who has a spare base or an entire beater 45a for sale.
Anyone have a spare 45a base?

You can melt them down with a simple propane torch ... just takes a little longer than with the hotter gas compounds.
