Ole MacDonald's Truck

Post by AJR »

A couple of favourites that I've had for many years .. the "Ole MacDonald's Truck. Originally produced as a Corgi Rocket with separate chassis and golden tune up key, it had a yellow cab. It was later retooled as a Corgi Junior with an altered chassis and front end, this time having a red cab.
Damn, I've just noticed that the cab roof is chipped on the yellow one.

The die-cast cab and plastic body are identical on both versions, but when tooling a completely different chassis for the later versions, the front end changed considerably but without putting them side by side you'd never notice.

Looking underneath, the retooling of the chassis also shows that the later fixed chassis version has a slightly shorter wheelbase.

This was Corgi´s attempt to make a Redline Hotwheel and I think they did a good design job that could well have come from Mattel!

I have two versions of the red truck, One is the same as yours but the other has a much lighter brown stake bed.

Also, I forgot to mention that the rear wheel mudguards are wider on the red version.
