#100 "FAB I"

Post by GHOSTHUNTER »

The Dinky Toys model of "FAB I" was launched during late 1966. By the end of 1976, over Two Million models had been made. It was one of the very first 'Licenced' models of Lady Penelope's Pink Rolls-Royce.

In 1997, I completed my research on this model and self-published the details, recording 14 versions. This has long been out of print, but recently I have adapted it for easier viewing within my Rolls-Royce model car Website, so if you like the Dinky Toys "FAB I" or intend to collect as many as you can, take a look at my findings.

Click on this link... http://theghostclubuk.webs.com/ ...then click on... 'THE MODELS' tab at the top of the page, scroll down and click on the big GHOSTHUNTER cover (it has a dark coloured Gowland & Gowland Rolls-Royce kit on it), then click on the... LINKS tab.

A slide show of the books pages will start automatically but you can pause it (bottom left of screen) and slow it down (towards bottom right of screen), and if the bottom of the pages are cropped (pages are numbered), simply go to the top right corner of your screen, not the 'Photobucket' screen and change your screen zoom to 67%.

Any problems, give me a shout.

I don't really collect large scale models but I make an exception for Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlett. They really are FAB.

Thanks Guys, I grew up with "Stingray", "Thunderbirds", "Captain Scarlet" and "Joe 90" (go on then, somebody has to say it...you took a long time growing up), but "Thunderbirds" was, still is, my favourite and I think it was the Rolls-Royce I latched onto to, seeing it chase the 'Hood' around the Country lanes and then watching the 'Hoods' car crash through some White fencing, after "FAB I" disabled it with some shots from the hidden machine gun behind that famous Rolls-Royce grille...Great!!

You missed out on the first two Anderson series. "Supercar" and "Fireball XL5". Not old enough I guess, But fortunately most of them are on youtube.

Great to see more RR posts when re-visiting this forum.
I only have one corgi fab 1. Never knew there're so much versions with Corgi like Matchbox. Very interesting!
Great book (slideshow) by the way. so detailed! I now know what FAB stands for.
And you probably know there're more FAB 1s issued by Corgi in 2005 celebrating its 40th anniversary?
And great club and website! I joined right away :D
Strangely it said my webID/email was registered. Looks like it shares user profile with another site. Anyway I reset password and got in finally ;)

Thanks,

Thank you Ritchie for your comments, as you have probably guessed by now (as you have visited my little website), I collect all scales of Rolls-Royce models but I could not have any of them on display at home. The idea of the website was initially for me to display models from my collection and somewhere I could go to see them, it then seemed a good idea to open it up and tag it onto the back of my model club (The Ghost Club U.K), for other collectors to see them. Now the website is becoming a focal point for my collection and I am adding to it whenever I can.

The "FAB I" Slide-Show is a temporary installment for another collector who wanted information about the Dinky model, but who was too far away for me to post the actual book because of postage costs, so I had to reformat the pages and create the show you see. It is not ideal (looks much better as a book in your hands), but it just about works.

Yes, I am aware of the 'CORGI' "FAB I" models and have all the retail versions but not the limited edition 'Collectibles' Magazine versions.

Ritchie, if you did leave a message on my Ghost Club Website, please can you renew your details by leaving it again in the same message fields, as your last one won't be read due to the message system being upgraded, thank's.

I found out that I had mixed up the Dinky and Corgi FAB 1. :o
The 2nd line should read:
I have none Dinky fab 1 and never knew there're so much versions with Dinky like Matchbox. Very interesting!
And my comment on the Corgi 2005 FAB 1 can be ignored.
