Good evening,
yesterday I found this "Buy it now" listing in German Ebay. The seller offered a #50c Kennel Truck preproduction.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Preproduction-Ma ... 7675.l2557
This listing was deleted after one hour beeing visible, because the offer contains a mistake. But I luckily safed this as an favorite.
I never bought something from this seller, but he had (or still has) a lot of matchbox toys for sale, and the price relationships were always reasonable.
But this item seems a bit underpriced, if it is "the real thing". It should not reach the price of the one hardy offers, but I think a genuine example would reach a four-digit price, or at least a high three-digit price.
The base picture isn't the best, but there seems to be a lot of paint to the rivets. And they definitely look different to the rivets from hardys example.
The base itself looks different, too. On Hardy's it reads just "Kennel Truck" in the middle. Don't know if thats a pure Prepro base or just a base variant.
Here is Hardy's bargain

I would guess thats a fake. I'am looking forward to the comments and assessments from the Rw-experts.
Please move it, if it's in the wrong category, I wasn't sure
Greetings,
Linus

Re: #50c Kennel Truck
The model in the First link for me, has too much paint on the rivet heads and deposits of Black paint around areas of the baseplate. It also has the full date and 'Lesney Prod & Co'...something missing on the model in the Second link. I would rather class the 'Harvey' model as more of a 'Pre-Pro' than the model in the First link.
Ghosty.
Ghosty.
Re: #50c Kennel Truck
I too noticed two areas with minor black paint still showing on the first one's base, impossible on an unpainted casting. My guess would be that this Seller found it was not original, so chose to sell it off. A less than educated Buyer offered his fair price for it, and rather than have it further scrutinized, the Seller cancelled the listing 'because of an error in the listing', and sold it off E Bay to them. With some of the pure fake garbage today that draws good money on E Bay, it really makes me wonder about who is involved with our hobby. The yellow rivets do look too full of yellow paint on the first model, almost as though hand touched up. Properly spun rivets lose paint in the factory process, even if only way down in the center of them from a 'sharper' tool being used. It was best you stayed away from that one Sir Matchbox. Mike's Post on the German code 3 yellow 15A today shows an honest modeler with talents enough to have done this yellow Kennel Truck also, so I am off to check his 'Completed Sales' for it. kwakers

at first look i didnt notice...then i read Dicks post and went back...and you can see black paint is the crevasses and raised regions
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

Re: #50c Kennel Truck
Thanks a lot to all of you.
Especially to you kwakers, for your detailed post!
Now I noticed this, too. Always good to have a second or third view.
Exactly this item was offered in ebay a second time, by another seller who is selling a lot of code 3 in repro boxes the last time.
Strange thing.
Thanks again,
Linus
