I may be corrected on the details here but here gos.........A few years ago someone from The American Matchbox site [MCCH] bought a Matchbox land rover Safari and posted it out to another member. The idea was for it to be passed on around the world from member to member with photographs put on the web site to show its progress..Top of mountain, things like that.....Another member may be able to elaborate as I was not personaly involved.....Did it get kidnapped at one point?...I just had a look round on the site but came up with nothing..... :(

Hi,

thanks for the info about the landy.
It is a nice Idea to send a Modell around the world to take Pictures of it.

Ergomatic your GAZ Looks good, thanks for the picture.
I think it is undestroyable isn´t it.
In Africa I meet a couple with a GAZ (not the same Modell) and they where happy with their car.

That GAZ69 is a beauty, I just have to make do with a 1/43 model. For some reason Polistil included it in their Export range, but they made a very bad job of modelling it!

A teenage Joe rebuilding a 1500cc VW engine. A finished 36HP VW engine with chrome sheet metal can be seen in the background, it will go into my 1956 bug.

That's a 1978 Cadillac Seville and in the background is a 1966 bug which I completely rebuilt into a 1973 bug. Photo from very early 1980's.

A customers 1968 VW bug which I drove under a tractor trailer rig in an accident while on a road test. The car belong to the Investigative Reporter for the local TV station. We took good care of her and got her a new VW and she did a wonderful TV report on how great and honest our shop was. People were always coming up to me and saying hey; your that guy on TV, the honest mechanic!

I didn't own it, but I did get to drive it.

My buddy John at Launch Complex 39, IIRC that's Atlantis on the pad. He was proud of his Harley and hated my Kawasaki (mostly because it never needed fixing and always left him in the dust LOL). John was one of several people in charge of quality control for NASA.

Old farts on a Jet Ski? Yep, my Yammer-Hammer, we're on a sand bar in the Atlantic Ocean. This was taken after a five mile open water run at almost 70 MPH. That's Lady Marilyn with me.

My uncle owned five different aircraft but this was my favorite of them all. He ran an air charter and rental service. I learned how to fly as a teenager and I've just finished preflight inspection. Photo taken by my girlfriend and we were headed for a weekend trip to the Islands along with my cousin.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
