Corgi Fiat 1800 No. 217
Snapped it up as soon as I saw it on Ebay as a buy-it-now for around $50 including postage.
I'm hoping it's original.
Box certainly is and it was described as such.
Paint just seems a touch odd. The detailing too good. The base a bit rough. Which is all making me wonder.
But I think I'm satisfied that it's original.
If it has been restored then it's certainly the best one I've ever seen.
Here it is next to my old playworn version.
And with all my 217 Fiats

Re: Corgi Fiat 1800 No. 217
Hello CCE, It looks good to me but I am not a Corgi expert. It is also the later casting with the baseplate modifications to allow for the FIAT 2100 version introduced a year after the 1800 and that is why there in no number shown at the front and the raised plate with 1800 on it becomes the 2100, so there will be shade differences between the original 1800 issue and the later 1800 issue with modified base.
Thanks for showing it here.
Ghosty.

Close examination of the silver trim for spray pattern or brush strokes should answer your originality question.Corgi masking improved a lot by the mid 1960s from the rough beginnings with models like the blue/yellow Bedford CA

I'm more certain now that it's original.
The detailing, however good it is, is not typical of a restoration.
Corgi must have certainly improved the masking.
And thanks ghosty for pointing out the casting variation in the baseplate.
Certainly seems like a transition to the Fiat 2100
Makes sense with the later spun hubs.
