We were told no insertion fee - it was free. Then they added a commission charge to the postage cost as well as the FVF - WTF !
How have they any right to take a commission on postage which is absolutely nothing to do with them - this stinks of criminality to me. I hardly ever sell now and only when its convenient to myself.
If I list something at 99 cents and gets no bids so sells at that price and I have to ship to UK at $17 then the fees to me are $3.28 !!! I lose $2.29 - why would you ever list anything at this low start. No wonder Ebay wants a percentage charge on postage as postal rates have now gone sky high for online shopping to cover the snail mail costs and losses.
Bugger Ebay - they have got to big and greedy and almost dumped the small mum and dad sellers that made them a huge company in the first place. If you want to be a big Amazon and sell new items in shop stores then don't be an auction site anymore (sorry forgot that they are not an auction just facilitate buyers) and pay the tax in the country they earn it from instead of shipping it to some island in the Bahamas

Re: NIGHTMARE EBAY
It is a big scam from e-bay to make more dosh out of sellers.
What I have done is emailed the sellers and asked if they can ship the packet through regular mail and not a 2nd part like Pitney Bowes.
On both occasions the sellers agreed to ship without using global shipping. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Another query I haven't been able to find the answer to is what happens to all the money that is collected for import charges when items are sold through the gsp (when the item doesn't attract import duty or is below the threshold) because it happens and are VAT rates applied correctly?
To be honest, when I see something that I would normally bid on but has gsp, I skip it. I have messaged sellers before and explained this and one or two have been helpful but some have either not replied or basically said "tough."

All I did is ask the sellers to send me the invoice with regular postage pricing.Idris wrote:...but isn't the third party cost automatically deducted from your PayPal account? How did you avoid that?REDSCOUSER wrote:It is a big scam from e-bay to make more dosh out of sellers.

Furthermore, I mentioned to them that's it's easier because that way they don't have to ship the packet to Pitney Bowes and pay the postage on it.
I paid, got my MBs and positive feedback was left both ways. Brilliant.

I usually pay import charges only when the item is delivered to me. Why do I need to pay import charges when purchasing the item?
