Hi All,
I took Kwakers advice and Rang the shop where display is for sale, they told me they brought it from a local newsagency, I rang the newsagency who's owners had only been there a short time, they were unable to assist with my enquires at this point. Prior to the current proprietor's, the newsagent had been in the same family for three generations.
The current proprietor's only brought the business part of the newsagency and the third generation family owner still lived above the newsagents, as he still owns the building.
The current owners made enquiries on my behalf, the previous owner has memories of the display being in the shop and then in the upstairs store room (till he traded it ) and had no doubt as to the fact that it was a genuine article, he was able to confirm the trade he made to the current seller.
The information I have been given from all parties seems to gel and all people were very open and very helpful and I thank them for that. A nice story trail, which provides some provenance if not its genuiness at the moment.
