I hope you don't get what I just got...(the No.6 Euclid GPW)
I hope you don't get what I just got...(the No.6 Euclid GPW)
I bought this NO.6b 'EUCLID QUARRY TRUCK' in February of 2014, for..........($ a lot). I admired this model, close in hand, countless times, never questioning it's authenticity until a fellow collector friend noticed that the treads of the GPW looked lacking in detail.
It was when I held this model next to a MOKO No.2 'Car Transporter' cab (which has similar GPW), that my stomach did it's first dive .
I took an x-acto hobby blade, and scratched the bottom of one of the wheels (that's when my stomach did it's second flip) .
Look at the attached photos.
Someone in this forum asked me earlier this year what I thought of 'fakes.' I think my response was something like: I know they are out there and I can co-exist with them------as long as a seller takes it back.
It has been my experience in many years of Matchboxing, that collectors in the MOKO world are 95% trustworthy, quality people. My Euclid purchase was a private transaction, so I am certainly at the mercy of this sellers integrity. I will find out this week, whether, and to what extent, this seller will stand behind his model.
Please look closely at these photos. This is a quality fake. It took a blade, not a fingernail, to expose the black wheel underneath. I know MOKO's well and it had me fooled for 7 months. There are not many grey-wheeled 6b Euclid's floating around, and the value of a genuine is quite high. Should this model show up on e.bay or some other auction site-----beware-----and know that it is not an original.

Thankyou Jason for showing this, I cannot believe what you have just shown us. I hope you get a full refund.
I would never have even thought this is possible. I have to admit I am gutted for you and just shows you what length people will go to.
Regards Jason

These are absolutely my thoughts too, I hope you get your money back. The colour-matching and the care with the painting is clearly a very deliberate action and it would be interesting to find out how the seller responds and even how he came by the model. A sober lesson for many collectors.nearlymint wrote:Thankyou Jason for showing this, I cannot believe what you have just shown us. I hope you get a full refund.

I think the 6b rear wheels might be unique to the 6b model. My one has gone to a new home so I can't check it.

Jason you said this was a private transaction?
Can you tell the forum of this private seller sells his wares on ebay and of so what his user name is.
I would also advise some caution in that there is a possibility that this seller may have also purchased this model thinking it was genuine to sell it at a profit...............so perhaps there is more than one victim.......albeit this theory a long shot as i am always the pessimist!!!
