Die Cast shops/dealers - Sunshine Coast AUS

Post by tractorboy »

Hi there,

Going to the Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore) 4th October - 11th October.
Does anyone know of shops/dealers I could visit in the area while I'm there?
Will be having a day in Brisbane (orders from better half) - did Google search but not a lot of luck there.

Thanks

Hi Rodger,

There used to be a really nice vintage diecast shop in suburban Brisbane - somewhere between Fortitude Valley and Eagle Farm. But it was 2000 last time I was there, so possibly no longer... Antique centres in Aussie occasionally throw up the odd vintage Matchbox so might be worth a look.

Cheers,
Gavin

I visited Gateway Models in Brisbane about 10 years ago on a trip to Queensland. It was in the eastern suburbs, near the coast.

I recall that it stocked mainly new diecasts and didn't have many vintage items. Nevertheless it was a fascinating place - set up in what seemed like an old shed, with stock piled up everywhere and you never knew what was around the next corner.

Thanks everyone for the info.

Unfortunately didn't get a chance to go down to Brisbane. Ended up playing golf every day!
Looked around a few 'antique' shops but no luck.
There used to be a model shop about 2k from where I live that was well stocked with items such as Matchbox, Dinky, Corgi, etc.
The owner sold up the premises about 5 years ago and now does everything on line.
Fondly remember hours spent in his shop - sadly I think model shops like this are a thing of the past.

Have kept the details for my next visit.

Gents,

They are few and far between here in Aus.

I know of one in Wagga Wagga but its mostly modern diecast.

There is this one not far from me

I am going to have a look today or this week.

I am off to a Swap meet on the weekend of the 29th Nov here in Melb. I am happy to search for people if you let me know your specialty. Any Superfast are mine tho! :D
