kerbside wrote:A nice showing of boxes, but these should be posted in the Boxes section, also take note would collectors please wait for the casting # to come up please.

As posting things before the # gets the site rather untidy and to go back to find a post is hard only a simple request. ;) :)

Ritchie, I think you have put box number '5' and '6' in the wrong order, I have these two swapped in my collection, because of the steering wheel and mascot was removed from the artwork to allow for exporting the model to more Countries, so they did not have to worry about RHD and LHD cars. The quotation marks were also removed from the name "Silver Cloud"on the 'End-Flaps'.

Kevin.
The boxes are in the correct order, The #5 is a B type moko lesney and the #6 is a C type lesney.
What confuses the issue is there are two different box manufacturers, Pembroke Abbey and Bowater Scott,
Neither box maker took much notice of the others products so there is some variation in their products.
Bowater box illustrations are usually much crisper than Pembrokes but the only way you can tell them apart is by the writing on the endflaps, Bowaters endflaps are in plain block capitals while Pembrokes are serif, also bowaters use taller and slimmer numbers on the box front while Pembroke use shorter stockier numbers.
I believe Bowater (in sarf london) were lesneys preferred company but they used Pembroke as well.

OK Nick thanks for that. I was aware of the two suppliers, but have always placed my boxes in a time-line on face value.

Actually Kev, Their is only one Pembroke box, #7, all the rest are Bowaters, But the Bowaters have some with the "" and then one without and some more with, the boxes are in the correct order but the "" was removed and then put back later on.
