What are the shafts of the axles like Reg?

Hi Reg.
I am pretty sure the wheels of the 41b were plated like the later issue baseplates were.
The 41b looks fine to me, Nice pick up.
Could not get to Rayleigh, Should be able to make Brentwood later this month.

JB the axles look ok ,no sign of tampering

Numi when held in hand and checked with a loop the axles sit centre of the wheels , think your observation is because of the slight downward angle of my picture
nice to know how observant members are on here to notice such things

Just arrived today a silver grey 44b with silver trim and a strange casting fault on the grill, maybe Ghosty can shed some light on this

Looks like a deflated air bubble in your grille - too irregular to be a splash of molten metal onto the set casting -interesting!
If you dont like that answer then its a factory trial with added unpainted RAC badge!
