I didn't want to be the bearer of bad news with the first reply to your first post ... but I have to agree with the others. The model has all the outward signs of a base switch. Can you give us some history about the model, even possibly from whom it was purchased?
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
Re: red vw 1500
I was offered this very model several weeks ago and passed on it and several other items. Just too many questions. The person that offered them to me stated that they had been in their collection for a long time. I have pictures from other models that they were offering for sale as well. All of them "very rare" wheel variations. I had my suspicions as well about the authenticity of the models. I sent photo's to several dealers that I know and they said to shy away as well.
These were also offered but most were sold before we could make a deal. Think in the long run I am glad that I passed.

It was actually sold before I had the chance. Good thing! I just think what would I do with all these rare wheeled cars? Maybe I could sell them to Tinman for some custom paint schemes.

Re: red vw 1500
I'll tell you what this reminds me of, and that's the collection of rare-wheeled variations which were shown on the old forum (by someone with a name which contained the word 'green') and then a couple of months later were sold on Ebay. I bought a couple which were sent to me "on approval" (I still don't understand how that happened) and they were blatant fakes. The display case with the individual model pigeon holes reminds me of the display cabinet which was shown in the post on Lefora.Could we be looking at a serial faker whose m.o. is to create rare but playworn wheel variations?

There's nothing regular about wheels

Re: red vw 1500
Nothing as far as the "green" in the name but they are located in England somewhere I believe. We are all lucky to find one or two rare wheeled models let alone afford them. So many in one place? Once again, as you said "Too Good To Be True"

Re: red vw 1500
Sorry guys ,but so many fakes in one collection; I don't known. If you would fake ared vw ,wouldn't you try to fake a red vw in mint condition? And secondly, I've seen several fakes but always there was some movement between the rivet and the base. This one really doesn't move at all. Sorry for my poor englisch and sorry for putting my topics in the wrong category. Next week, when my daughter is back, I'll try to put some clearer photos on the net. Nobody of you all really gives an 100% clear opinion of the green hubbed trailer. Greetings
