Observation about Georges 1-75 regular wheels casting show
i think george should make the missing early casting threads...we are up to 60 continued from the old site...do 56 on back to one so people could add pics or questions...looks like people are making threads there that could go in threads with specific numbers...it shouldnt be cluttered up with other threads when it could go into the thread with the corresponding number
wasnt the forum supposed to be a general repository for pictures of models with as many variations as have been found...it should be number specific so if you need to look for something or add something new...there will only he 75 threads as thats the number of models

Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

Yes, 75 threads could have been pre-started on this new forum, 1-75 and anyone with images or information on the coresponding model, would just go into that thread/topic and put the material in there.
However, when compairing two entirely different models side by side to show the use by Lesney of the same coloured paint, then clearly one of the models does not belong in that thread and when someone else is searching for that model, (the one not in it's correct place), the obvious place to look will be it's own numbered thread and the model may not be in there.
It certainly would be handy if the models could stay in their respective thread sections, but by the very nature of how we treat our hobby, I don't think it could be adhered to.
Just my thoughts,
Regards,
GHOSTUNTER.

the premise of georges casting show was just that...a show of that particular model in a thread made for the models number 1a 1b 1c etc!...if you want to compare a model with different shades or what ever...then you put it in the 1-75 forum...not georges casting show forum

I Agree with that Brad, the threads for all the models in number order and then a thread for discussion like colour comparisons etc, but as we've seen it is very difficult keeping it that way.
It can be somewhat annoying looking for a model you want to check on, if its spread all over in different threads.

Hello Dan, I did think about that when we got a new site, but thought that I might get shot down.
If the members want me to do what you say I will start again at #1, as I still have all the Pictures on file.
Being one of the admins I can delete or move any things to the appropriate forum.
I leave the ball in the members court for comments.

I think reposting the old threads would be a great idea George. It would be doing us all a great service.kerbside wrote:Hello Dan, I did think about that when we got a new site, but thought that I might get shot down.

Also, I suspect that having too many mods fiddling with things would lead to confusion so I would be very happy to leave any adjustments in this section to you. In any case, I (and Tinman) seem to have our hands full deleting spam right now.

It would also be great if you could move things into the appropriate threads, the uncluttered layout of the Castings Shows makes them particularly easy to negotiate.

That is why it is so important that models are always correctly referenced. Even if it is in 'the wrong thread', such a photograph can always be found using the Forum's search function provided that the text accompanying the picture properly identifies the models concerned using model number and issue letter, ideally in s standard format (i.e. 14d rather than 14 -d).GHOSTHUNTER wrote:It can be somewhat annoying looking for a model you want to check on, if its spread all over in different threads.

In an ideal world yes, if all members were to give their images the correct titles, with correct model identification numbers that's fine and works, but we don't and do members know the correct, (full) number, of their models, yes and no, ("I stand corrected if you all prove me wrong and do know the full model number, sorry"), if you only collect Mercedes-Benz models, the A,B,C and D, letter designation is not that important to you, but if you specifically collect the 'Superfast' Mercedes-Benz models, the letters are.
If I want to check the colours available on a 'Superfast' Mercedes-Benz, I can check Nick's 'Guide' pages, but,(no disrespect Nick) it is actually quicker to look in 'Micks Superfast chatroom' or the 'Superfast casting show', they are in fact nearer! then later I go into Nick's 'Guide' pages, this is how I have been using the sites sections for specific models, it works but could be easier.
If we had...'1-75 Regular Wheels Reference'
and...'1-75 Regular Wheels Chatroom'
I know where I should be looking first for the colours on the Mercedes-Benz, in the 'Reference' section, then I can look in the 'Chatroom' to see who or what is being said about the Mercedes model and if I have found a new previously un-recorded colour, I talk about in there.
P.S. I have used the 'Superfast' Mercedes-Benz as an example.
