38b

Post by kerbside »

I went several months with-out finding any thing, then in six weeks I have found ten nice hard to find model variations that I need.

This model the 38b Vauxhall with the 10 x 36 GPW has always alluded me for some time, they say that patience is a virtue. :D :D

Very nice George, and in beautiful condition. The type E box isn't so easy to come by either.

Cheers,

Nicely done George! I'm happy for you! There's been a good bit of re-arranging on those shelves of yours in recent weeks! :)

Yes Greg, I have had to make a very small cabinet to fit under my type "C" models to hold 24 models as my type "C" models were getting over crowded,
now my type "B" ones are getting there also.

I counted my "B" models and at this moment I have 246 variations so space is getting very limited now.

Hello Gavin I now have six variations of the 38b model, and have 3 "D" boxes and 3 "E" boxes, still need the Code one, with Red interior and
9 x 20 GPW. nod nod if any one has this variant for sale.

The one you have found above and the GPW with red seats are the pair I still need to own all 7 wheel/seat combos -they must be the most htf 38b variations out there !

Yes Mick
I think they are very HTF I have asked many dealers about the code one with Red seats and GPW but they all say they have never seen one.

Some weeks back a ebay seller from South Africa had what they said was one, but when I looked at it it was the Red seat but it was the 9 x 24 SPW model.

No the seller was not our friend numi, ;) ;)

A lot of sellers seem to have trouble telling the difference between GPW and SPW.

Vectis appear not to have sold any gpw 38b with red interior according to Nick´s listing but one of the cars in Nick´s group photo looks like gpw with red seats otherwise I would be wondering if this is a fictional variation! Perhaps kwakers can remember whether or not the red seats versions showed up 2 years or more after the 1st green seat versions. Green seats seem plentiful with gpw,spw or bpw with red seats versions plentiful only with spw - red seats with bpw appears to be very late production with E boxes

I would tend to agree with Mick. I think most of us George, will never see a 38B with red interior and GPW in our hand for inspection let alone within our collections. They, like the Loch Ness Monster, remain rather mythical

Well, I am aware of one 20 tread GPW with a red interior being sold at a Pennsylvania auction over 10 years ago. It went high after spirited bidding on the floor! Also an unlisted Stannard variation exists and can be found with diligent searching; green interior with 9x24 tread black plastic wheels! - E

Nice to hear from you Ethan, (earlywheels) on Nicks variation site he does list the 38b with 9 x 24 BPW, + a few other wheel variations.

Mike Stannard only lists 7 variations, but Nick lists 13 different wheel variations, as he seems to get a lot of information from Vectis Auctions so I assume
that they must have sold these variations in the past.

Although a lot of years have passed since the Mike Stannard book was released, so new regular wheel model variations are being found.
