May'be the red vw 1500 owned by George T Marshall is not as unique as we all think.
Look at the base and give me your opinion about these pictures ( look at the clean rivet)

It's not "unique." it's rare. Unique implies that only one exists. Congrats on your possible find of a rare model.witten wrote:May'be the red vw 1500 owned by George T Marshall is not as unique as we all think.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

Re: red vw 1500
Sorry but for me the rivet and base hole do not look right.almost looks as if the base would go over the rivet. Quite common on this model which makes a base swap very easy. J

Re: red vw 1500
Welcome to the Forum Witten. I am not very happy with the look of the rivet on your VW, can we have some more images please?
Can i take the opportunity to ask you to familiarise yourself with the varios discussion areas on the Forum, you will note that there are some more appropriate threads that you can place your posts about rare RW and SF. It is important that you use the correct area of the Forum in order that your posts are read by other members.
In this case i would have suggested you could have placed both your posts into the either the " Lesney Matchbox regular wheels 1-75" or the "Look at what I just got" discussion areas on the Forum.
Please enjoy your stay here and if the images you have posted so far is anything to go by it looks as though you may have some interesting models to show the members. Welcome on board.

Can "Idris" please move the two posts by "Witten" to the correct area, thanks.

Re: red vw 1500
Excellent photos, well taken Witten!
They do clearly show that the hole in the baseplate is wider than the size of the rivit and there are clear signs around the edge of that hole that the baseplate has been pushed over the rivit rather than the rivit spun down onto the baseplate - looks like a car that had its original baseplate broken off then replaced with a RW baseplate with an enlarged hole.

Re: red vw 1500
sorry but I must agree with the earlier comments that the rivet and hole are suspect

Re: red vw 1500
I've had a look at the photographs and I must agree that the baseplate hole looks to be slightly larger that the flared rivet head which is obviously a major cause for concern (understatement).
