Facebook is the spawn of Satan in my opinion and should be eradicated.

I agree with Mike. Splitting the focus between this forum and a Facebook page would only be detrimental to the forum.

I find similar topic FB pages to be very shallow and 99% void of useful posts or discussions. The little discussion that does occur is of little use or value.

I would not support such a page (by that I mean I would not be interested in posting to the page and likely never view/visit the page).

That said, I have seen some pages that do not allow anyone to post other than the company or person who established the page (individuals can only "like" the page). Such a page might be a good way to advertise the forums and Nick's associated web sites without diverting any traffic or topics away from the forums.

I want meaningful discussions/comments, good photos and I want them all in one place. I would not like to see this forum degenerate into oblivion like the mcch. The owner of the mcch abandoned his forums and prefers the shallow meaningless content of facebook.

I would be strongly against any VBD FB page that would allow any open public comments, posts or photos that would compete with the forums.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

I'm one of those who refuse to sign up to FB. Not on it and have no plans to join. So, I wouldn't be interested in a group over there, and I agree with Mike and others in that I think it would be a shame if a FB alternative ended up being detrimental to the forum.

Cheers,
Gavin

Incidentally, it is a lovely spring evening here - the working week is over (Friday NZ time), the Tuis are singing outside, I have a nice glass of Gisborne Pilsner, youngster in bed asleep already, with the "management" on the sofa with the telly on and enjoying the best Matchbox site in the world. Bliss. Let's keep it that way!

Cheers,
Gavin

I think it would work and would also help promote this site because all your friends and your friends friends will see it. ive lost count of the amout of people ive told at fairs about this site and there still not members because they forgot the name or couldn't find it where as if I told them to find us on facebook it would surely be easier, its never going to hinder this great site and can only enhance it .
