I made a very late decision to go to the Falkirk Swap meet and therefore got there an hour after opening.
I wasn't expecting to find anything as a result of my lateness however to my surprise and amazement found a loose mint condition SF-23 VW Camper with filler cap in amongst a box full of loose standard issue SF's. I nearly collapsed when the seller asked me £5 for it!!!!! needless to say i bit his arm off.
I also had to take home an SF-29 Racing Mini (TP issue) for 50 pence for my son Dylans collection (the mini's a bit playworn but my son has just turmed 5 and is beginning to show an interest in Matchbox and i started a wee collection for him and he is loving it!! Start them young i say!

Very nice VW there sir, squeaky clean.
Quite agree with starting them young - one of my son's favourites is his rather worn GMC Hopper Train, no crappy plastic bits to break off. Unlike the 1:50 scale Corgi D.R.MacLeod wagon I bought him (something he'd recognise..), which broke both front wheels quickly.....

Takes place in the Graham High School, fist Sunday of each month and can be hit and miss usually miss!!.johnboy wrote: What's it like at Falkirk?
It is not a big swap meet by any means, no more than say 50 - 60 tables. It's the only swapmeet in Scotland so i am not going to complain too much because we couldn't afford to lose it.
There are a great deal of railway and bus memoribilia enthusiasts/sellers and a few tables selling corgi/dinky so getting any Matchbox pickings can be somewhat of a struggle.
There are a couple of sellers who have some matchbox every month but price their models way to high and dont like to haggle (it's no wonder they can't shift their stock). So it is quite rare to get a steal like i got today. I still cannot beleive my luck. Just need to find a nice mint box for my SF-23 and i will be a very happy chap indeed!

Re: GOOD DAY AT FALKIRK
I started my son collecting by giving him all the Hot Wheels redlines I would get mixed in with my lot purchases. Dealers always gave him a screaming deal because they were so pleased to see a young collector. Now his collection of left overs and cast offs is getting pretty nice, and large. Now if he would just stop teasing me about my RW and stop calling them "Old guy toys"motorman wrote: Start them young i say!

Re: GOOD DAY AT FALKIRK
Wow!, you mean into Englandshire???,
That would involve me having to shave my ginger beard and remove all my tribal face paint. Furthermore i would have to change from my kilt to trousers and that would mean me having to wear underpants. Seeing as i don't own any underpants that kind of puts a spanner in the works so i will stay north of the wall tending to my beasts and sharpening my sword. I wouldn't want to scare any of those softies beyond the wall.
Seriously, I went to Birmingham earlier this year and was amazed by the size of the event but disappointedly left with only a handful of SF's and nothing special amongst them, anyway i am planning a few trips south next year, money and wife permitting!!
