How many are in the hands of our Forum members here??

I have one (spotted in a job lot of mainly SF on Ebay) which came from an American living in El Salvador.

With the Ford Anglia having the raised number, dose that mean it was destined for another number in the range? If so what number was it intended to be?

If memory serves, it was pencilled in as no. 79. However, like no. 77 (which became the 17c Taxi) no primary source evidence has come to light to support this claim, both renumberings being mentioned in the Forty Years book.
We know that 76a was to be the 27c Cadillac Sixty Special (listed as such on the back of a gift set), at least one 4c Triumph motorcycle and sidecar exists with no. 78 cast on the base, and boxes for the 25b volkswagen exist bearing no. 80. There is also a rumour that the 29b Austin Cambridge was to be 81a but, once again, this is unsubstantiated.

Pretty sure that the Cadillac has #76 cast on the window plastic under the roof - was never changed as you can't see it without pulling the model apart.

You are correct, number 76 is molded into the window insert.

Unusual 7a with 2a wheels. The absence of trim and the fact that the wheels are unpainted may be indications that this is a preproduction. Alternatively it may be some kind of trial piece.

What a Great Find! Of all the hundreds of Milk Floats I have seen over the years in person, this one is simply spectacular. I am only surprised by the fact that Numi or Jason did not find this one before you did Hugh. This is yet another centerpiece for your collection to make you smile every time you see it. I agree it may likely be an early trial model that was done before the proper first spoked wheels had arrived at the factory because of it's lack of detailing. Check very closely for any minute casting differences on it and it's horse for us Please. I am glad I saw this Sunday morning, I would have lost sleep over it last night.
There is also the possibility that this particular model was one of the first to be assembled with those planned 2A wheels, and management decided the wheels were simply not realistic enough for it. It really is too bad that a model like this one wasn't found by a collector and researched in 1970 when some of the early factory workers may have been able to document these unknown wheels being used on it, perhaps even just in the prototype shops. Just when you think we have found and seen it ALL!!!! kwakers
