Yesterday (saturday sept 6) I was at the biggest steamtrain event in the Netherlands.
This is 2km from the Ford A museum in the middle east of the Netherlands (main station is Beekbergen)
Today (sunday sept 7) I will not go to the event which is for the whole weekend.
There were many steamlocomotives under steam and it was possible to make rides (which I did)
They have a track with 5 stations and at 2 stations there were many activities.
The track is from july 1887.
The track is from Apeldoorn to Lieren/Beekbergen, then to Loenen, Eerbeek and Dieren. See map.
Both Apeldoorn and Dieren are also national rail stations while the other 3 stations are no longer in use.
Freght stopped in 1972 after people could no longer use it since 1950.
They have german locs as all Dutch steamlocs does no longer exist.
In germany they used steam locs till the eighties (especially eastern germany) and it was possible to buy them very cheap at the time.
This steam club organisation with their own track exist since 1975 when the latest commercial trains were taken from this track between Apeldoorn and Dieren.

In Loenen there were scale steam engine enthousiast as well.
This was a carousel and I took photos of the Rolls for Ghosthunter.
It was also possible to make free rides with old busses but time didn't aloud me to do so.
Some items for sale in the tents with stallholders.
I took quite some photos for Bob of the steam engines in Loenen.
Wooden shoe making:
Sawing:
The all grey Steamlocotive was a WWII engine. Most others were from the late 30ties or mid 50ties.
Back at the station in Lieren/Beekbergen
They have 20 steam locomotives and 20 Diesel engines. 14 of the steamlocomotives are in working order and they had 9 off the Steam Engines making rides. There was at least one engine from anotehr club. The Diesel locomotives are Dutch. The Steam Engines are german as all dutch locomotives were demolished many decades ago. In East germany they still used steam in the eighties and in west germany till aprox late 70ties. This staem organisation exist since 1975 and therefore could easily buy the german engines at that time when they became out of service.
Amsterdam latest tramcar in scale.
This display also had an underground world.
Making trains from copperplate:
My battery was empty so could not take photos of loading coals in the tenders and could not take photos of more old lorries and trucks at the station in Lieren/Beekbergen.
A good day out.
