31c Lincoln continental 1964 ?

Hello friends.
I have in my collection a 31c Lincoln
Towing guide (no towguide). incl. box with red model.

Now I found this in ebay matchbox article.

Is the model really so valuable ????

I normally work on the basis that Harvey's/Hardy's prices are two to three times the market price. That would mean that the true value is somewhere between €80 and €125. That's a bit more than I would like to pay for a mostly invisible variation, but what do others think?

Simple answer: Absolutely not!

While Hardy still had this one listed at a cheap $125, I found mine at $23 in Georgia in July of 2011, and Numi found three on E Bay during the week I told her it was tough to find. We could never find this tough variation brand new in stores Mike, so to us it was 'Rare'.
Numi proved to me it is just an uncommon model to find, maybe just consider it a 'tough' variation that you now have a very nice one to show us. Thank You Mike and Nico, congratulations on this one and your Horse Trailer variation.....kwakers

Hello Mike and Nico, I remember posting about this model some time back. I think that it must have been on the old Lefora site.
All the ones I have seen of the model with-out the Tow hitch have been Dark Blue, not Light Blue.
One collector on this site in the UK went to a toy fair and looked for the Dark Blue one and sure enough it had no Tow hitch.

I've had 31c Stannard code 1 for many years without having ever realised it was scarce. It was in an auction job lot and has the red model E2 box - probably cost less than $NZ20. I love finding stuff like this out! My records show I still need Stannard code 3 and at least one of the box variations for 31c.

hello Gavin, yes my code one also came in a box showing the Red model, when I chased after the box showing the Dark Blue model when it came it also had a code one inside. That model has long gone to a friend.

The "F" box seems harder to find than the "E" box showing the Red model, my code three model came in the type "F" box.

I do not consider the "Without Tow Guide" variant as being rare.These (Lighter Met-Blue without tow-guides) seem to have always popped up mainly in the Us and the latter in the Uk and easily attained with plenty available to get into individual collections.One just has to keep on looking at base-pics.I had seen them mostly in the lighter shade of met-blue as opposed to the darker shade of met-blue,hence the Darker Blue without tow-guides should be considered Htf.
