53b Mercedes in Maroon with BPW

We love this model.
These are our Mercedes 53b.
The Maroon model has silver wheels.

It appears your top and bottom models are different shades of the red. I too have a bright red and a more "normal" red but have yet to be able to get them to photograph well enough for the site here. Can you confirm your two red models are different or the same shades?

Can you RW guru's help confirm the colour of my BPW 53b.

Well I'm no guru motorman..in fact I only wore a guru hat once..an incident that's probably best not spoken of.
Anyways I have the same version 53b a you, a Nicks code 8 , which is supposed to be "dark red"
but I have the same problem as you, without a "maroon" one to compare it to, it's very hard for me to tell the color.
I'm not sure these reds photograph well. To me, mine looks more maroon, than red.
I'll try and post a pic tomorrow

Thanks zBret, your comments are very welcomed, I have to assume at the moment that it is a code 8 dark red variant that i have. I just need some of our more knowledgeable participants to confirm it. The colour really is hard to tell without a confirmed Maroon to compare to! Bugger!! Where are you Nick???

Hello motorman, the 53b model with the patent # on the base only comes on the Red model not the Maroon model, also this was the last issue with the patent #.

To not be able to tell the difference between Red, Dark Red, as against the maroon colour is so plain to see. This was all shown on the old Lefora Site. but I will put it on this one for the collectors who missed the posts.

I am happy to acknowledge that my 53b is the deep red version. I would say however that in the hand the paint finish looks more maroon then red.....if that makes any sense at all?

Just comparing the colors a bit, I noticed that my apparently red 53b, is very close to being the same color as on the 5d.
I do not have a maroon 53b for comparison, but was wondering how it compares to the maroon found on the 3b and 69a.
