Post by starni999 »

Hi all,
Thought I'd post a few pictures as I was sorting out my Photobucket mess into albums (what a crap job).

Some have been posted before, but that was on the old site, so it don't really count!

Hi again Chris, great collection no doubt about it, and I particularly like the Bedford 'CF' Van, I always wanted an example of this and when Dinky introduced it I rushed to the toy shop to get one and oh! what a disappointment, it was not 1/43rd scale and would have looked ridiculous parked next to the Ford Transit, so I did not buy it...even now at toy fairs I look at examples and think...should I now get one, just for completeness, no, I'll leave it for now, maybe another day!!

I used to work at Vauxhall Motors in Luton on the 'CF' Vans production line, so really I ought to get one.

The big Aveling-Barford dumper truck is fabulous, don't see many of those, is it as big as it looks in the photo.

I know you are into your Dinky Toys, but you have some other nice models in your display units in the background, any chance of showing some of those one day.

Cheers Chris for all the nice photos of your Dinky collection,

Ghosty.

Hi mate,
I learned to drive in a CF, KOV 437P in cargo blue, lovely old motor wish I still had it.
I remember getting my Dinky Royal Mail in 1970, and wishing it didn't have those bloody awful wheels!
Yeah the Aveling is HUGE, it still has the type written label in the bed warning you not to smack yourself in the face when you release the tipper!
These are old photos most of the stuff in the background is long gone, when I got made redundant in 2011 and started trading at fairs everything made after '79 was fair game, and I've probably sold 1000 models since.
Glad you like the posts, it made me smile goin' back thro the old pictures.
