Give your mcch friends this site address!
Re: Give your mcch friends this site address!
Using FB servers will save him money and earn him more friends! Is he lurking outside the gathering this year or perhaps enjoying his own personal private gathering on FB???

Yeah, and if Hitler was a nicer person maybe things would have been different then too.tjlglass wrote:Shame really as if run correctly and by decent people it could have been a good site.

While this is hands down the best Vintage Era Collectors Site, there are discussion forums here for more things than vintage models.
I completely agree with your thoughts about the quality of this site and I told many of the Matchbox collectors about this site at the recent Matchbox Collector's Gathering held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, last weekend (July 18-20). It was another FANTASTIC event that included numerous Matchbox Sellers/Collectors with great in-room trading plus several great presentations (including Mattel), and a Toy Show! The 2015 MC Gathering dates are July 17-19 so mark your calendars and plan on attending in Albuquerque next year!

Christian is nobody's fool and I would be extremely surprised if he didn't have his area fully backed up (especially after all the nonsense with Pat's box site)johnboy wrote:Ok, in that case I hope Christian is on top of things. I've learnt a lot and found his site invaluable over the years.Tinman wrote:His site is hosted on Curtis' server. When Curtis stops paying for the server, Christian's site will go down. In his (Curtis) current state of mind, I would not expect him to notify anyone, it will just happen.johnboy wrote:I'm glad Christian's site doesn't seem to be affected.

I hope all start planning for the 2015 Gathering. This event is really focused on the collector. So many people put time and effort into it that it has grown and remains a fun time for all. Please share with everyone the dates 17-19 July 2015 in Albuquerque. I have started planning and we are thinking of adding a Thursday (16 July) In-room Trading day and inviting all to the Sunday night party. Please visit our web site www.mcgathering.com and our like our Facebook pages Matchbox Collectors Gathering and Mattel Landy Travels

I seriously considered going to this year's recent event, I opted to do a tropical island in the Caribbean instead where I explored the coral reefs, ate too much rich food and consumed to many tropical drinks. Perhaps 2015 will lure me back to visit with many old friends and see many of the models I've loved all my life. Maybe we can do a small "I was banned from the mcch" party for ever growing number of people whom Curtis has kicked out. We could expand the membership to include those who have given up on that tainted forum due to his continued bully tactics.jimgallegos wrote:I hope all start planning for the 2015 Gathering. Speaking of the latter, I see he kicked two more noted collectors out of his little ghost town. Pretty soon, he will have to start editing and deleting his own posts (few as they are) and telling himself to get out ... as no one else will be there. It's obvious that many members have grown sick and tired of his petty and childish closure of the site (for seven to ten days at Gathering time) in some idiotic response to his not being able to continue to fleece the gathering members in the yearly auction.
It's been three years now and he still does not understand that all of the problems lie within himself and he continues to take down the site during each Gathering (3 years, 3 times the site is down during those dates). Even worse, there have been three years of unfulfilled promises to this own members and one very public failure to produce his own event (however small and exclusive that might have been). The longer he clutches onto the ghost town of a site he runs ... the greater a blight he becomes on the hobby.
Since Curtis has removed himself from the Gathering, the event has flourished and grown into a premier event that is the single best collector event on the North American Continent. Congratulations Jim, you deserve much praise not only for the Gathering events but for how you handled the "Curtis problem" like the true gentleman that you are.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."
