Are rejects a good or a bad thing?

Hello everyone,

I have about 20 1960s matchbox cars (none with boxes and some with paint chips) that I was given as a kid by a friend of the family who used to work at the Lesney factory in Edmonton England. He would sometimes collect up rejects from the production line and give them out to a few of us kids. I've looked through each of mine a little but I'm not a collector so don't really know what I'm looking for, checking online against the list of variations in each model. The only 'flaws' I have found are more like parts missing, like the roof of a Bentley (or does that make it a rare Bentley convertible ) and the decals on a canteen. I am wondering if anyone knows whether a reject is likely to be more valuable, or less.

I hope you enjoy your first impressions of the forum. With regards the models that you have i would suggest that posting some images of them would be the best option regardless of their condition. There may be some rare stuff amongst the many you have so get that camera out and let us have a look at what you have, that way we can all give a more educated opinion on each model. I hope you enjoy your visit and please do not be afraid to ask any questions.

I'm loving this forum! I didn't realize there was a whole world out there of matchbox aficionados, and so much knowledge to share.

I actually have all the photos already as we are getting ready for a move so I've been documenting everything as we pack it away. I took 6 of each vehicle, should I really post the 120 photos here in this thread? I don't want to get kicked out after one visit

Hi Paul and welcome to the Forum. Some errors carry a small premium but the demand for these are lower among collectors so some go the other way and are lower. It all depends on what you have and a few pictures will help decide what you have. I myself have quite a few errors/rejects and personally like them. Looking forward to seeing some pics.

If your rejects are rare colours or wheel variations then they will be worth money

If you are having trouble posting pics, use Photobucket or a similar cloud based photo host. Then al you have to do is post hot links here and you add those as simple text in the body of the post.

Thanks very much Ghosty, much more manageable! I've figured out how to resize the rest of them, but I have 120 photos in all, can't find a way to upload them all in one go. What would be the best way to get that many photos up on the forum?
