Husky Ford F350

Post by johnboy »

This Ford has no name on the platform on the baseplate, looking around I think this is the Husky wrecker rather than the camper. I'm not sure if this is an error, a pre-pro base or something else and I have a feeling this has come up before, can anyone remember?

If there are no traces of the crane base being busted out of the chassis from above then it certainly could be part of a genuine rare camper issue with lots of odd variations appearing during the transition from Husky to Juniors Whizzwheels.

Thanks for the info Mick, I'm not familiar with these at all but I did notice that the Fords changed from black wheels to chrome effect, was that at the same time? Here's a couple of pictures from above, I can't see any obvious damage.

No paint damage and no chrome damage in the hole makes it seem very unlikely that this ever had a crane fitted - I have seen one of these with camper back before and your does have the tell tale wear to the underside of the bumper corners where the camper box rubs. Those Corgi Juniors paper stickers sometimes come off very easily so I have no problems accepting this as a genuine early Juniors camper made before Whizzwheels baseplates were ready. This style hubcap wheels were used on lots of 1969 Huskys so are common - its diecast metal hubs that are rare when seen on Ford pickups from sticker base Juniors 1969-70 issues

Thanks Mick, you're a mine of information. I'll look out for these in future.

I want to get all this done written up in Nick´s Husky listings as fast as possible but he is too busy with higher priority tasks to shedule firm dates to complete these although I have the time to get all the info ready for new pages.

Until today i have not seen an originally carded camper in that colour and base!! So for me its no reason to
believe that this version without anything at the back could be (perhaps) the camper version that
was never listed before anywhere! Its easy to snap a camper body on that, so i learned over the
years that i have to be careful with changing parts and i only believe that versions, that i have seen
by myself original sealed on card before or came up over the years in modest quantities!

Corgi Juniors labels fall off easily, so many times the unmarked bases are believed to be pre-production
Husky or Junior models, but its not!

But with lot of fantasy its the rare original camper colour prepro........!
