Great casting, great finds.
Never seen gold with the newer plastic wheels...or any of the others for that matter.
Are they uncommon?

Not that common, but the hardest crossover model to find is a green one with the type 1 spare carrier. I still don't have one of these, although two versions are known.





The examples above are in the hands of a Swiss collector.

Those are interesting versions and understandably hard to find, because the Y-7 Rolls-Royce started with the type 1 'Spare Carrier' and of course was converted to the type 2 'Carrier' in 1973, just before the up-dated 'Yesteryears' range was put back onto the British market and I have no record of a matching Rolls-Royce with the 1973 wheels and type 1 'Carrier', does one exist?

Shown below is a mid-1973 produced version with all 1973 wheels and tyres, a version made before this one has the original brass effect metal wheels used upto the suspension of 'Yesteryear' production in late 1972.

Both of those models are again from 1973, but using-up 1972 components on 1973 developed body coloured castings. The best example being the example with Gold body but Silver bonnet, clearly showing Lesney were desperate to get finished models back into the shops and so nothing was really rejected, if a 1972 model just needed a few components to complete it, they just used any destined for the new 1973 production run and unknowingly created what we now know as 'Transitional' models.
