Re: "Ghosty" adds NON Rolls-Royce models to his collection!!
In prepairing an article on 'Lone Star' I got out my 'DCMT' 1904 Darracq "Genevieve" and gave it a polish, this is one of my favourite all time non Rolls-Royce models, it holds so many memories for me, the period from when this model was made, the nostalgia from it being a Film 'Tie-In' model and of course the Film itself the model was made to promote.
Sadly I don't have the special box for it and I believe the Lady passenger has gone back in doors (too cold for her!), so she is not with the model.
Here are two pictures of it, but I will show it again in the 'Lone Star' article soon.

Re: "Ghosty" adds NON Rolls-Royce models to his collection!!
I have just added this lovely metallic green Corgi Toys Land Rover to my NON Rolls-Royce collection. It has very kindly supplied by Mick (SMS88), after he showed it on the forum as part of a 'Job Lot' of models and having one of these when it first came out new in the shops, seeing "Mick's" example brought back so many memories, anyway, he said he would sell it to me if I wanted, so here it is, back in the UK and I really do love this model and despite only owning this particular example for a few days, it feels like I've always had it.
I've given it a quick polish and very pleased with the overall condition, thank's Mick.

Its the toys that get away from us that we often desire more than the ones we had long enough to take them for granted! And all in a good cause too because the money from this was directly donated to the Malta Vehicle Heritage Trust who are relocating their amazing Truck + bus collection and need donations for diesel

Re: "Ghosty" adds NON Rolls-Royce models to his collection!!
Before the NEC Birmingham toy fair I went on the Saturday to the Windsor toy fair. I found a lovely little collection of models, all "Matchbox" and all were 20p each. I also found the 'Copper' Vauxhall Cresta and thought I was going to get that for 20p as well, but the stall holder obviously knows about these models fetching more money and stung me a full £5 for it...!
One of the regular wheeled Matchbox models was a clear glazing Scenicriuser coach, this has now joined my other two examples with clear glazing and one of my pictures shows all four models together.
Two examples of the Ford Capri were nice to have, with one of them having the tow hook stabilizer, this is an extension of the rear section of the baseplate and find it odd that Lesney felt this was an important addition to the specification, but why did they not do it to more models!
Note the tow hook stabilizer on the right-hand side Ford Capri.
I now have Three coaches with the clear glazing!
Very pleased to put a Vauxhall Cresta back into my Vauxhall collection, especially for just £5!
On the Sunday it was Forum 'Posse' Day at the NEC Birmingham, with everybody turning up except poor old Nick, may be next time. I did not buy anything of note and would have missed a Stannard book for £80 had Alex not told me about it, but later I find he has secured it for a mere £60, so well done Alex.
During our 10:15 meeting, we had some very constructive chat and displays of rare models, in particular Hugh ("Idris"), had a nice cross-section of 'Regular Wheel' and 'Superfast' oddities, but the crowning moment was to see Three examples of the 'Group 6' in normal mid-Green and the pictures have already appeared elsewhere on this forum, search them out and enjoy, or click on this link...viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2031&p=24605#p24600
For me it turned out to be Free Gift time when both Reg ("Fixer") and Hugh, each gave me a model and the model from Hugh was a real treat, being one of my favourite 'Superfast' models from the period, the Lotus Europa in metallic Blue, but this was no ordinary example, it was the version with the 'Open' ends to the front bumper, a version I had not seen until Alex posted pictures of his example some time ago on this forum and Hugh actually said I could have his example as it sat on the table in front of me...I protested at the offer, but he insisted he had a much better example himself and wanted me to have this one, well, I was most surprised but very happy with my newly aquired 'HTF' model, it has now joined my non Rolls-Royce collection, thank you again Hugh for your generosity.
Note the delicate bumper ends on this version, maybe this is why the areas were filled-in to prevent the ends from being bent in towards the body during playtime sessions!

I was simply passing the model on. Jason (Nearlymint0 gave it to me some time ago and I had since found a mint example.GHOSTHUNTER wrote:For me it turned out to be Free Gift time when both Reg ("Fixer") and Hugh, each gave me a model and the model from Hugh was a real treat, being one of my favourite 'Superfast' models from the period, the Lotus Europa in metallic Blue, but this was no ordinary example, it was the version with the 'Open' ends to the front bumper, a version I had not seen until Alex posted pictures of his example some time ago on this forum and Hugh actually said I could have his example as it sat on the table in front of me...I protested at the offer, but he insisted he had a much better example himself and wanted me to have this one, well, I was most surprised but very happy with my newly aquired 'HTF' model, it has now joined my non Rolls-Royce collection, thank you again Hugh for your generosity.

Re: "Ghosty" adds NON Rolls-Royce models to his collection!!
The Chipping Norton toy fair (Sunday 2nd Nov just gone), was very quiet and small, the smallest toy fair I have ever been to, half the size from my previous visit there. Many traders missing and I so not a lot for me to buy, however, I did secure another model from my Childhood and this model was featured somewhere else on the forum, it is the lovely Commer Snack Bar Van, Joe's Diner and it is one model from my original toy collection I was determined to replace one Day.
This amazingly nice example was priced at £22 without box and I got it for £20 which is fine and I have already been playing with it, bringing back such vivid memories from those long-lost Days!!

Some other stuff I had to have because they were cheap and I have no problem with having duplicates of models are these here. A Corgi "Goldfinger" Yellow Rolls-Royce, mint in box, a set of very basic 'Classic' cars which includes a Rolls-Royce Phantom II, a Lledo two car Rolls-Royce set in a tatty and sellotaped box, all for £5 and a 'Yesteryear' Crossley 'Coal and Coke' truck for £1.50.
