Perhaps it’s time for a quick poll. How many members own a 35b Snow-Trac showing evidence of the filled-in windows rather than with a retooled back and, for those that have one, what shape were the windows?
Hi Idris,i had seen quite a few Snow-tracs with these filled-in rear window outlines since the start of this thread.I do not own any. There are a few currently on auction in the murky waters.

By the sounds of it, these early, unmodified castings are not particularly rare. It would still be interesting to see whether we can arrive at a consensus regarding the filled-in windows: are they always rectangular or are there in fact two designs?
I have now found a photograph of a real snow-trac which shows the rear window configuration. As you can see, they are not rectangular, but have a chamfered corner.
Diecast wrote:Very nice photo Hugh. Perhaps there were two types of PrePros, one with rectangular windows and one with chamfered corner.
It seems unlikely, but it also seems to be the logical conclusion.
Do you have any beaters you could dismember and strip in order to reveal the ghostly windows under the paint, both on the outside and the inside of the bodyshell?

Are you sure about this? I've just spent my lunchbreak on Ebay and I didn't find one that was convincing.

I found on my scrap heap one old and destroyed 35b and I have decided to sacrifice it for the research. I have done an autopsy and found that the original model had definetely two square shaped rear windows. You can see the rests of the edges on the inner side of the body.

Another piece of long-lost Lesney information retrieved for posterity! Thank you for doing that for us, Antonin.
Roughly what percentage of the 35b Snow-Tracs have the filled=in windows?
