When we first got together Debbie's Mum had an Executive, a lovely car but the paint had gone very flat, Debbie's sister borrowed it to go on her honeymoon in cornwall, The starter motor packed up in devon, She paid a "friend" a small fortune to replace the starter and 20 miles later it burst into flames, Everyone escaped OK but the car was a write off and came back home on a recovery truck. So the insurance assessor came around and valued the car with peanuts, I argued with him and ended up buying the car for practically nothing. I proceeded to remove the 3.0 V6 engine and the one from my 1.7 V4 transit, After a lot of hard work and swearing, mostly swearing, I got the V6 running in the Transit, My god did that van used to FLY, It was only good for about 85 top speed but it used to get there in a couple of seconds.
Years later Debbie told me a secret, The reason the car had such flat paint was because she had cleaned it.... with a brillo pad while her Mum was at work as a surprise.
