1b Aveling Barford Road Roller, issued 1956, length 57mm, box type B.
1c Aveling Barford Road Roller, issued 1958, length 62mm, box types B and C.
1d Aveling Barford Road Roller, issued 1962, length 67mm, box types D and E.





The three different types of the canopies, although the middle one is not a complete curve.



The four different colours, including the Yellow/Green model.



The one with the supports under the canopy on the left one is not listed in Stannards Book.



No variations are listed on the 1b model in Stannards.



The light and Dark Green models of the 1c models.



The 6mm and the 7mm rear rollers







Still looking for the first casting with-out the hole in the base, (hint hint)





This model has many variations, they can be seen on Nicks variation site.



All the listed variations are taken from Mike Stannard book on the 1-75 Regular Wheel Models.

I love the number 1 Road Rollers...here are some of mine:



Still a few to get - light green 1a, type B box showing 1a model and type E box for 1d. There is a nice Fun Ho! knock off - about the same size as the 1d, but comes in a rainbow of colours - I have one somewhere I have owned since new in the '70s, well worn in a pale blue colour. I'll dig it out some day and photograph...

I believe that 1C Roller casting without base hole must be one of the 'Holy Grails' of Lesneys George. Could it possibly be a factory pre-production that mike Stannard had seen in the Lesney factory collection, or have any other Forum members seen this one in the flesh? I have never seen, or even heard of one that was sold.
I have seen a handful of 65 Harvesters with their totally different base text but without base hole sold over the past 6 years on E Bay alone, but never this Rare 'stock base text Roller' that is only missing it's base hole....kwakers

One of my cats here must have changed the 1D on that Post George, you are certainly correct. I was actually hoping anyone could show us this one Nick in any condition. It seems a 'Ghost' Stannard variation to me, but I know one will show up if we deem them 'UltraRare' as they now seem to be. George and I will both be drooling over it when one shows up ....kwakers

Hello Dick, are you sure it was one of your cats and not your thinking age? I often wonder why the 1c model comes with-out a hook, but just a flat tab, and then Matchbox went and put the hook back on the 1d model. As this one 1c is not listed with a hook neither of us will be searching for it, unless some one comes up with it
