Mike and Nico collection of old cars.

Post by mike »

Hello friends,
we have this bundle of old cars.
We have no idea of it.
Are in this collection well interesting models?
Or just cheaper scrap?

Greetings from Austria

Mike, Mike, Mike...where have you got this idea of 'Scrapping' models from! Please put that idea out of your mind for good. Nothing in the hobby of collecting toy and model cars should be regarded as scrap, somebody somewhere can find a use for it.

Your first picture contains a lovely little collection of 'CHARBENS' Old Crocks and I can see two Vauxhall cars and a nice pale blue Rolls-Royce, yes the one with red wheels is a Rolls-Royce and your other pictures are showing 'METTOY' Standard Vangaurd, so please keep all of them, they are good.

I had to go and drive my wife to work, now I am back and will try to help. Maybe someone who knows more can come and say if I have been a good pupil :geek: or maybe the class dunce
Some of these are on Nick's site by the way - maybe here http://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk ... enbros.htm and here http://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk ... harben.htm

I think most of the top picture are Charbens 'Old Crocks' but I see one has a black baseplate with Benbros 'Qualitoys'
The second picture - maybe the motorcycle is Morestone? The tipper truck is a Lone Star 'Tuf Tots'. The blue Range Rover looks like Marx or Tootsietoys maybe? The red truck is a Benbros - I like this very much and if you want to swap it for some of the nice Husky or Corgi Junior in my shop please let me know.
In the bottom picture the only one I am sure of is the police car which is Morestone. I think the jeep could be another Lone Star? The truck is very interesting as it looks like a Fordson/Fordson Thames but the cab looks too square for a Dinky - what does the writing on the baseplate say? The clockwork car - is that a Standard Vanguard?

This would make a very good pub quiz Mike :D

Yes Ewan, the 'BENBROS' is the Rolls-Royce in pale blue with red wheels and the clockwork model with tinplate baseplate is the 'METTOY' Standard Vangaurd. That's all I am prepaired to identify at the moment, back to you... :)

Perhaps, I sell the models.
I have little space and little time for these models.
My collection area are the Matchbox RW models.
But Ghosty, they will not come to the junkyard.
I hope the models come to a collector who loves them.
:D Greetings Mike the collector from Austria. :D

Mike, I have a few Morestone Budgie models in my collection.
I believe the motorcycle with sidecar is a Morestone " Budgie" N° 2
http://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk ... ore1-4.htm
The black police car N° 5 is also a Morestone Budgie, as Ewan mentioned.
http://www.vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk ... ore5-8.htm
I think the green jeep and blue range rover may be "Tootsie Toys" too.
