That does look like gold trim (although the umberplate is an aftermarket addition).
I've found that some gold trim is not at all obvious when the model is viewed head on, but is when the model is viewed obliquely (i.e. from the side, from below or from above).

The trim is a bit messy around the right hand headlight isn't it? I don't have many trimmed Matchbox but they are all much neater than that.

But confused me the number plate (license plate).

Should I remove the license plate sign (number plate) from the model. :?:
What would you do as a collector :?:
