18b Caterpillar Shades

I believe this was mentioned on the old lefora forum, and it is on the 18b pages of Nick's site but I thought it worth showing here. I have an 18b where the dozer blade and frame is in a lighter shade than the 'tractor' part. Interestingly the other 2 mentioned on the site are the same as mine in that the tractor has the '8' on the base rather than the '18'. I know this was commonplace enough, but do all these lighter blade variants have the same tractor casting? Maybe this would suggest a surplus of tractors/shortage of dozers and they were a bit of a rush job?
