I really wish the Matchbox Racing Mini was just a normal Superfast model like the MG 1100. Why did Lesney had to make it so ugly? It was looking a lot better in pre-production stages with the door hinges, why were these removed? :roll:

I am aware of the prepro examples with the door hinges, and i assume the decision to remove them was to allow for a sound flat surface for the application of the racing labels.

You are not alone in that opinion for the mini was one of the most iconic cars of the 60's and to see Matchbox not treat it with the importance and respect it deserved was somewhat disappointing and incomprehensible. IMHO

I like the mini also :lol: ,i am glad now i sat through about 70 lots after the toy section had finished to get it at the auction.i looked it up and its on the base the mini is an austin seven,the van a morris,a morris mini was shown in a catalogue but not issued(ramsays) something to look for lol.
