Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

Can't be one of JP's as the seller says "professional Recreation" lol. Just kidding Joe as we all know you are the boss.

Joe, do you mark your customs in some way to identify them?

Not my auction. My one and only ebay account is "Tinman1332"
It doesn't look like one of my wreckers. Silver trim on front grille looks like someone just took a sharpie to the high lines. The work done to thin the boom seems to be uneven. The white decal background is too bright (the real decal background is not bright white but more of a warm white). The tow hook is a red hook that was painted and part of the paint was scratched off when the hook was reinstalled. I also like to do an application of Future to my window inserts.
Of the last few I've made, all had real gray hooks and the correct body casting.
I stopped marking my restored models due to complaints from buyers (and having to refund a couple of auctions). It would seem the people to like restored and recreated models do not like permanent marks stamped or ground into the base. On the other hand, I never do anything to the drilled off base rivets (i.e. I never try to make the drilled rivet look original). Same for the small axle end, I never try to restore the round over.

It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

It strikes me as odd that the Seller brags about the base rivets on this one without even showing a picture of them. For that kind of money, I would expect to see what he has done with them. kwakers

Those little arrows on either side of the listing photos are so you can scroll through the pics by clicking on the arrow.kwakers wrote:It strikes me as odd that the Seller brags about the base rivets on this one without even showing a picture of them. Why, it's so easy ... even a Cave Man can do it!

I have never used that little side arrow Dan, (and now I have to add that confession to Joe also!) you have now shown me yet another new defect in my E Bay knowledge (or Lack of?? LOL) . The base rivets look terrible on this reverse Wrecker, drilled to a very small diameter and then glued very crudely and showing on the exterior of it's base. The final base product is certainly not anything for the Seller to brag about in his listing as he has. Someone must link him to the Forum's 'Tinman's restoration' Posts before he ruins any more Mint originals. Why use a 'Mint original' in the first place, a waste of some collector's next prize find..... kwakers
Somehow I wrote this yesterday Guys/Girls, and I must have not posted it correctly. This man could use some professional help Joe on those base rivets, but maybe it's best they remain crude so no one is confused as to it not being one of the original 'Holy Grails'....Dick

The arrows are a standard web feature for thumbnails of all types.kwakers wrote: I have never used that little side arrow Dan, (and now I have to add that confession to Joe also!) you have now shown me yet another new defect in my E Bay knowledge (or Lack of?? LOL) .
They look the same as any model that's been drilled apart. I leave my restored models looking the same way, as it makes it easy for collectors to spot a restored moded.kwakers wrote:The base rivets look terrible on this reverse Wrecker, drilled to a very small diameter and then glued very crudely and showing on the exterior of it's base. The Dodge wrecker was made in the millions, there are plenty of nice ones out there. Some people (I guess most people) don't know how to clean up a window insert or restore a scratched up dome light. If the model they plan to use has worn wheels, they likely won't have any spares to substitute. So, they look for a nicer model to use as a basis for their recreation. The model in question has value and it's current value will exceed that of a common wrecker in the same condition (however, I think his price is pushing it quite a bit and is too greedy).kwakers wrote: Someone must link him to the Forum's 'Tinman's restoration' Posts before he ruins any more Mint originals.
