Re: Question on a 11b
I have never seen an 11b with the small rear decal, thats not to say it does not exist though.
Years ago I had a trolleybus that I wanted to sell, I gave it a rinse under warm water, I was shocked to see a peardrax decal laying in the sink, I checked the trolleybus and both decals were in place, It was then that I noticed the corner of one of the decals was tucked under the decal, It had not been applied properly and the person that stuck the decals on had simply stuck another one over the top.

Re: Question on a 11b
I first posted this picture in 2009, when I had just found the model shown in the middle at Aachen:
I have not seen another one since.

Re: Question on a 11b
I guess the answer is that although 'Rare', a limited number of these 11Bs were delivered with the large style 11A decals on them. The 2 we now have seen owned by Forum members meet 'Martin's Law', and I guess Antonin and I, along with most others here can expand our telephone book sized 'Want Lists' to include this new variation. (Jason, Brad, and Numi can show us their's next week....LOL)
Very nice to have seen this one pictured here after all these years of looking at these! kwakers

Hi Christian, I see your small decal 11b has grey metal wheels, could you let me know what colour trim it has please.

Re: Question on a 11b
It has silver trim, dome headed crimped axles, no cab brace and a base with no open holes. Like variation code 6 except for the decal.nickjones wrote:Hi Christian, I see your small decal 11b has grey metal wheels, could you let me know what colour trim it has please.
Sadly I do not have any 11b with gold trim.
Re: Question on a 11b
My gold trim variation had the normal size decal on the rear. If I remember correctly, that model is now in Dr. Davis' collection.
About eight years ago, I was looking over a gentleman's collection. Nearly all of his rare and very hard models turned out to be fake. He has an 11b with the smaller rear decal and my notes on his collection indicate that, in my opinion, the decal was a nicely silk screened reproduction decal but for sure not a decal made by Lesney. The model had silver trim and metal wheels on crimp axles (I made no notes about the base). That was the only one I had ever seen in hand and I was convinced it was a fake. I would love to see a genuine example in person.

Re: Question on a 11b
I have practically no doubts about the authenticity of my example. First the decal looks the same as the one on the 11a, and second the seller (from the Netherlands BTW) did not ask a premium price because of the decal, as he was unaware of this being a special variation, and everything else on his table seemed genuine as well. I paid EUR 15 for this model, and I am sure the seller would have asked the same for the common decal variation in a similar condition.
Re: Question on a 11b
Just to be very clear on my comments, I wasn't saying I doubt the variation (I'm sure they exist and that it's a valid variation). Just that the only one I've held turned out to be fake and that I would love a chance to hold and inspect a genuine variation.
