Major pack M6b 'BP' racing car transporter

Post by Sir_Matchbox_96 »

Hello,

I found a Matchbox Major pack M6b 'BP' racing car transporter. Nothing special...but:

It already has the slot in the rear door but it has no tongue addet to the internal ramp.

I took some pictures. Do anybody own this variation, too? Is it something special, or is there a large number of them?

Greetings,
Linus

nice one...congrats!
Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.

Your variation was listed by NAMC but not by UK Matchbox. My guess is that it's pretty rare, probably on a par with the M8b/K8b which Jason (Nearlymint) and I both own.

Hi,

thank you John!

And also thanks to you Idris for your assessment. Sorry I have to ask:

Do you mean the allover turquoise painted one(cab+trailer)?

No. That's definitely a pre-production (there are significant casting differences), but probably one released in extremely limited quantities into the retail market on the model's launch.
The hybrid I referred to is where the tractor unit comes from one series and the trailer from the other. (I'm typing this at work, and can't for the life of me remember whether it's a Major cab with a King trailer or visa versa. I'll check this evening.)

Not one I have seen before but probably an interim model which means the rear door was modified before the ramp or a use up of old left over ramps before the longer tongue one was introduced. Nice find. Still looking for one likes Nick's yellow prepro he had.

Hi Mick.
I still have the yellow one, but I don't think it is a pre pro, more like a good repaint which fooled me.

Found it! It's a Major Pack cab coupled to a KingSize trailer.
