Hello Greg

It sounds like you like your current Mini a lot and you have a little time before you NEED another car. It also sounds like you are not that thrilled about the 2014 Minis.

So, why not take the time to find a low milage used Mini of the year and model you like? Maybe the proverbial old lady who only drove to church on Sunday is ready to sell her Mini S!

(I agree with you that I don't understand why car manufacturers always feel the need to inflate cars with each successive model generation. I just saw the newest Fiat 500 which is huge compared to the first generation!)

Worst case scenario, if you aren't happy with the 'new to you' Mini, you can always sell it for what you put into it and buy a new car that may not have as much soul!

Good luck and enjoy!
Kurt

Here's the report on the experiment. Believe it or not they fit on one side, one behind the other!

But sadly it is exceedingly tight and really very impractical to consider doing this parking job on a routine basis. I'm back to head scratching.

Maybe there's another way to work this puzzle.

Would it be possible to park the Smart sideways by backing through the door (think forklift) ?

I'm going to find out if I can pull the MINI in all the way to the front of the garage, park her Smart behind it and still get the garage door down. If it works I'm thinking I go buy the Focus ST and KEEP the MINI! ;) Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Drive Mazda Speed 3 turbo before you buy the Ford. It's has a better suspension/handling, better everything really. For Ford lovers, the Fiesta is actually a Mazda 2.
It might be time to start my "Bucket List."

I don't think there is a 2014 speed3. That was a limited model for 2013. You may find a leftover but I doubt it. Greg is only a few hours from me and when I was looking for one I could not find it. I ended up needing a larger car in the end anyway since both my kids are as big as adults now.
If I could have used a smaller car, the Subaru WRX STI is a nice choice. Handles like a slot car and is really quick. Just don't get the boy racer rear wing.
