Please use a web hosting site (like photobucket) to store pictures so you can post them here, using attachments makes it hard to view the pictures when you have to scroll to see them. Seeing comparisons of models is hard to see with attachments too.
Re: Casting #69
Thanks Brad as always on your very quick check on Dave's 'Brennen mystery variation'. I think Dave has this right Nick, it seems to have been a change just before the end of production on your very last yellow code only. Our Forum members can weigh in and verify that now. (And Antonin can show us his three versions of that triangle braced model......LOL) A still smiling kwakers

Re: Casting #69
Brad, just a quick check — you mean Nick's guide code 10 (yellow wheels), not 9 (red wheels), right? (Assuming I'm reading the guide correctly!) That would match Stannard's code 8 (and my observations that the additional brace is found only on the all-yellow models).
Thanks! Dave R.

I fully agree. This point by itself should convince even the most doubting Thomas just how useful the RW casting show is.kwakers wrote:If you needed any more proof of the worth of your casting show George, the smile on my bearded face right now is priceless.

Re: Casting #69
This fine GPW Truck was a very tough variation we could never find years ago in stores or at Toy Shows Mathias. We finally had to buy one off E Bay just 2 years ago. Both your's and George's look like Mint beauties with boxes that are as-new. I loved Nestle's chocolate as a kid, so these were a favorite with their sliding door for some 'action' as youngsters. kwakers
Re: Casting #69
There is a Post with a Lesney factory video on it right now. Along with that Lesney video there are 2 other videos with MokoLesney pictures featuring a very nice breakdown of a few different Lesney regular wheeled toys. On the commercial Trucks part of the video they show an orange 'color trial' 69A (??) that was/is on display at the Chester Toy Museum. This one is clearly shown, and is a new one on me that I thought should be mentioned and possibly discussed on George's Post of these Nestle Vans. kwakers

Very nice spotted Dave, I have found the same variation in my spare modelsDave R wrote:There was a casting change to the Hatra that seems to have gone pretty much unnoticed. Presumably late in the life of the yellow version, the two small triangular braces at the lower front of the cab were thickened and the area between them filled with a long triangular fillet. My guess is this was done around late 1968 or early 1969, before the decision to drop the model rather than try to convert to Superfast. I doubt it's particularly rare, just less common and generally overlooked. I just swiped a couple of photos from a current auction, I'll see if I can post them.
