You got the same baseplate photograph as I did! (You weren't the seller were you? I thought he was UK-based.)

No Hugh I was not the seller, mine will be with till I depart this life, :) :)

I have tried to put a bigger photo of the base plate I hope.

Here is the base of my one, on the under side of the base you can see the Blue on the edges.

Perhaps it was genuine then. (I was not aware that the dark blue version was a different colour inside.)

I suspect this to be the actual darker teal version and not the darker blue or am i all wrong about color deciphers. If it does turn out to be the real darker blue then good luck to the buyer for wanting to part with 585gbp ($1000approx).

Just to be clear, there are two points which intrigue me:
1) The baseplate shot of the recently-sold model shows only a single colour, which I think is almost certainly the standard dark green.
2) George’s baseplate shot clearly shows two different colours: a standard-looking dark green on the downwards -and inwards-facing surfaces, and a different colour, the almost legendary dark blue, on the exterior surfaces.
For me, these observations raise two questions:
1) Is the recently-sold model a genuine dark blue example? If so, why is the two-tone effect not visible in the baseplate shot?
2) Do all genuine dark blue 33a Ford Zodiacs have the two-tone colour scheme of George’s, or are some dark blue both inside and out?

Given the above observations and looking at the auction listing again, what concerns me is that the baseplate photograph (added since I last looked at the listing) clearly shows a model which is dark green on the inside and the outside, yet the shots of the top of the model appear to show a shade of blue. However, what is missing is the normal 'side on' photograph. This would have told us how (and where) the blue and the green transition. Could this have been deliberate?

I know the seller and to be fair he seems to be one of the good guys and sells all sorts. This model is so hard to photograph and I'm not sure he knows for sure as most collectors struggle with this, you really need to have some in hand side by side.

This model is very difficult to photograph, I recently bought this thinking I had finally got a dark blue one.

But as the photograph shows dark green on the inside :( , same as the one just sold.
But good for the display :)

So what colour is the exterior?
Are there in fact two variations: a two-tome dark blue outside/dark green inside one and a true dark blue one?
