Matchbox decided to model the early split rear windscreen version which became the ancestor of many millions of Beetles
Once again my light blue Beetle is packed away in a box so I have once again used Ghosthunter's picture to illustrate the first Macau Beetle
and then the next two were made in China
Now you must indulge me.
I was born in and started collecting Matchbox toys in South Africa
In about 1994 or 1995 a collector in Johanesburg (who's mane I've unfortunately forgotten) commissioned a number of Beetles which illustrated the then new South African flag. I read about them in the magazine "Model Collector". I contacted him and obtained one. It is the only Code 3 model that I have on display. I think it's well done.
