well to you restorer gurus...i recently acquired a #44 fridge truck with no door stop...it is missing a rear door...the one guy i see selling newly made rear doors is a bit expensive and ive found beaters with rear doors for cheaper...im on a very tight budget so every penny counts
so my question is...how easy or hard is it to remove a rear door from a beater and install it on the one i have that needs a rear door
thanks!

Question about removing a rear door on #44 fridge truck

Re: Question about removing a rear door on #44 fridge truck
I am not a restorer or a Guru Dan, but here goes my 'guess' while looking at one right in front of me. Because the rear door is held very well on this model, a very small jewelers screwdriver has to be used to pry the lower panel of the rear of the box out just enough for the base slot to come out of it. With the base dropped down just enough for that hinge pin to clear, the door can be removed. The earlier models without the rear bumper should pry out the easiest, the addition of the rear bumper makes that bottom casting much stiffer. The rear door is installed the same way. Practice on removing a beater door and then installing it again. That should take the stress out of putting the new rear door on your great first casting with no door stop. Thanks again for showing it to us. With a rear door still on, you cannot see the lack of a stop on E Bay listing pictures. That makes this variation very hard to find.
I have no beaters of this one right now. kwakers
