Re: Green 5a Bus
John Moore has had two green 5a's, I believe both came from Australia.

'OOOH, What a lucky man he was' They were the lyrics to a song that came to mind on having just one of these, only to dream of owning two green Buses.
It would seem that we might be chasing the same 3 green Tankers as they changed hands these last few years. Could you still be right with the existence of only 3 Nick, or does George's Australian collector having one add a fourth to those known? Could the 3 be traveling around the hobby that quickly over these last few years? Keep digging and commenting guys, I am still in 'Love'.......kwakers

Re: Green 5a Bus
There were 2 originally as the guy I know from swapmeets here had both. I always thought they were original but many didn't so he was having a job to sell them. From memory I think the asking price was $1000 - 1500 or thereabouts. He finally sold one to John Moore and the other to a well known US collector whose name I forget but he used to post on the MCCH. Not being a regular wheel collector I let them go (yes I kick myself now) but like everybody else had never heard of them previously. They looked and just felt right but there was always that green paint !!
He later found another but this one had quite a few chips on it but being so rare I doubt any serious collector would worry about that. It was still a thrill to have had at one time, one of this model in each hand and compare the 2 of them and as far as I know these are the only ones so far but there may have been a 4th one found since as I think I saw one on Ebay appear. I haven't seen him for a while as I haven't been to the Granville swap for ages now.

Re: Green 5a Bus
John Moore showed me his bus during one of the MICA conventions - but I can't remember the year.
At that time, nothing was known about the model - and the only hint I was able to give him was that some green busses with cream upper decks and black roofs have been made as Australian promos for a bus Company in New South Wales by Corgi Toys in the 60's, and they had used quite the same green color.
He later sold the bus via Vectis for a whopping hammer price of GBP 7.500!!
After the Vectis auction it was quite a strange feeling to know that I once held the most expensive Regular Wheel model in my hands!
I still have the Vectis catalog somewhere, so I can post a picture of the "cover pin-up" at the weekend!

Your picture is GREAT Numi! That is not the one with the box that sold in the auction 2 years ago as I began to assume it might possibly have been. This one is in fact as lovely as I had remembered it being when you sent me it's picture. Even though the others auctioned are in much better condition, this one is the true 'Apple of my Eye'. Thank You Miss Numi for another look at an all-time favorite variation of mine I hadn't even known about till Nick's Forum featured it 4(?) years ago........Boy is it a good week in the Cave......kwakers
Re: Green 5a Bus
From memory this looks to be the 3rd one found which had many chips on it. One was almost mint and the 2nd had a few tiny chips and as far as I know none were boxed so someone has added one to the model.
