Jazz, to say that we dont care about this #19 is completely untrue, I have already stated that this is a very important find and one i also would happily have in my collection. I am very very convinced that this is a wonderful colour trial that Mick has acquired however I am anything but convinced that it is a Promo in fact I will be personally astounded if the mearest shred of evidence presents itself to suggest that this is a PROMO for some american food company that in 40 years no other example has ever surfaced or been talked about in Matchbox collecting circles either in America or the rest of the world.

Quebec is the French speaking state in Canada that has little in common culturally with the rest of North America so it should come as no surprise that we know nothing of the toy market there 40+ years ago.Collectors who speak French as a 1st language are very rare online, loads of German speakers, a fair number of Spanish and Italian but the French rarely seem to contribute much on english language toy forums.

A colour trial answers why it was painted Yellow.
No that doesnt answer why its yellow, wheres the proof its a colour trial ? Just because its a different colour to the normal release doesnt make it a colour trial.
At the minute thats just guesswork. I agree that it will likely be found to be a colour trial, but it could be a 'friday special' or 'por favor' just as easily.

COLOUR TRIALS...

...I am not sure what the official line is on 'Colour Trial' models. It is generally thought that a model in a colour not catalogued by Lesney, but clearly made by Lesney, is very probably a 'Colour Trial', that may be the replacement colour for a long running catalouged colour on a very popular model.

I also don't know when this term was first brought into the collecting circles, but I bet it was an early Matchbox collectors club.

Ghosty.

As you say "it will likely be found to be a colour trial" which would a very reasonable explanation why it is painted Yellow.

Lesney´s policy for 1970-71 was to give each vehicle in the 1-75 a unique colour unless it was an emergency services item. The only facts I am sure of is that
a.this Lotus is painted in the exact same yellow over white primer that was used on a short run of #12 Setra coaches
b. in 1971 Yum Yum chips of Quebec used orange letters in the style of the tape on this car on a yellow background
we also know that it was Lesney policy when conducting colour trials to offer judges a full tray of 12 different colour combinations and that many 1969-71 SF were given a body colour change (although Lotus was dropped not recoloured).
