MOKO MODELS TO SELL TO COLLECTORS WHO EMPHASIZE 'EXCELLENCE'

Being new to this forum, I'm not sure if 'advertising' is allowed, but it can't hurt to ask.
For those collectors of the oldest MOKO Matchbox models, who have strict guidelines on 'excellent' original condition, you may want to visit my e.bay auctions (jaskelrod). This week, I have 46 original Lesney and MOKO models and boxes, including many different model variations. My weekly listings usually average around 20 pieces, and are ongoing.
I, as well as many on this forum, have spent countless hours examining individual pieces down to the finest details. Countless hours, comparing similar models together, looking for even the finest difference in cast, color and design. I never use the term 'mint' to describe my models, as "MINT" denotes 'flawless', and I think that each Matchbox piece is unique unto itself. Those subtle differences is what gives Matchbox cars their character.
What many consider to be 'mint', I describe as 'excellent'. That being said, most of what I have is unquestionably excellent, and appeals to the strict standards of many collectors. Most of us are familiar with your Ebay auctions,your quality and your expert pack & post methods and yeah,your shipping costs are close to the best on Ebay,undoubtedly.
Actually i do remember buying 8x Mb's off u back in 11/01/2011 when i first started collecting and i still have the 2x complimentary models that u had included in that package.Thanks for that,much appreciated.
We also notice that your auctions fetch top prices and sometimes over the top prices,lucky you!!

Hi Numi.
I am impressed that you are able to recall the 8 cars you bought from me over 2 years ago.
Over the years, I have bought, sold and traded with some pretty fine people all over the world. One of the things I appreciate the most about the (older model) Matchbox world, is the sincerity and maturity of the collectors. I think the world of Hot Wheels, comic books and baseball cards involves a much broader demographic of people, and can have a lot more surprises.

I never set out to be a 'seller' initially. I had to become one in order to finance all of the buying I was doing. After I discovered e.bay, I was making my precious wife crazy by spending so much of our money on Matchbox. Another collector introduced me to the idea of advertising in newspapers around the state, asking people to "check your attics, closets and basements" for old MB cars (talk about adventures in collecting). I actually run a local support group called "Matchboxaholics Anonymous". We begin every meeting with, "Hi, I'm ________, and I have been a Matchboxaholic for over ___ years. Then we exchange stories of credit card run-ups, account overdrafts, unpaid bills, and getting to the mailbox before our spouse can see how many Matchbox cars we've been buying (all of this is actually just a joke).

You asked me about fakes: I have posted some photos of a couple of them that I have pulled out of collections that I have bought over the years. They look quite normal unless you know what to look for.
Notice the No.20 Stake Truck has modified axles and the wrong metal wheels.
The No.39 'Zodiac Convertible' is a bit trickier. This one I found out was fake after someone sent it back to me (yes, I actually sold it!) Except for the sloppy paint around the bottom rivet, it almost takes examining it next an original to notice. this model even feels heavier than an original.
What do I think of fakes? If I get one (rarely), I just send it back. The person usually does not realize it and is apologetic.

I wouldn't call it a fake. It might be a repaint and it might be original, paint often flakes off when the rivets are spun and bonds near the rivet. Rivets on the 50's models can often be anything but perfect. Wheels do get mixed up and shared between models. It's a common variation regardless.

Welcome to the Forum Jason! No Post is too lengthy if it is about Lesneys. You have helped many of us along the way with some fine variations, so you will find some 'old friends' here. I have bought many models over the years from you, but not the white interior regular wheel Lamborghini I still remember being a bit shy on. That may have been 4 years ago now, but it was mint and under 100, so that is one of yours I should not have let get by me. Have prices changed since then......kwakers
