Where is the difference in these boxes.
D1 - 1a
D2 - 1b
I also have this box and find no difference after Pat's boxing page.

I have read in Pat's pages.
D1-1a (has Small number) 1962
D2-1b (has Large number) from 1963
see number "6" on the front of the box.

Re: Rarest of all Boxes
The D box for the 6b is certainly much more common than the D box for 58a that Antonin shows. It seems to me that the type D boxes that were only issued as D1 and not D2 are the rarest. Based on how many I've actually seen, these are about equally rare D boxes: 47a, 55a, 58a, 66a - then 53a only slightly more common - these five seem rarest though. Next, I'd say are 33a, 62a, 71a. Thare are a bunch that are uncommon, but that seem to turn up reasonably often here in NZ (they might be harder to find elsewhere) like 6b, 17c, 15b, 16b.
All the boxes George has shown are rare, although with the 59a, I'm not sure what in particular is rare about that one - perhaps George can enlighten us.
Cheers,
Gavin

Re: Rarest of all Boxes
Hello Gavin and Mike, I did not list it as rare but as hard to find. I looked at lots of the 59a boxes until I found the one with the letter "S" decal on the cab doors. Again I suppose it depends on which part of the world you live in.

Re: Rarest of all Boxes
Thank you George,
I scurried right off to the cave to check my two 59a boxes, knowing I have two different illustrations - I have a B3 without 'S' on the door, and a B5 with the 'S' - although the latter is in rather poorer condition. The B5 I got in NZ quite recently in a job lot.
Cheers,
Gavin

Re: Rarest of all Boxes
Hi George,
I love the variants of the boxes for the Singer van. It is the top and bottom illustrations that I have, I'm pretty sure.
The 53b box with small numbers is elusive - I've only seen that one in pictures.
Cheers,
Gavin
