Johnboy has picked up on a most valuable point GPW. As he pointed out, it IS best to put in an experimental bid first. If it goes in with no problem, you are set for your top bid later. If your bid is not accepted, you can then Message the Seller early for a chance at bidding. I have had a few Sellers who had no idea E Bay had put restrictions on their Buyers, so were able to allow my bid as well as change those settings on all their other sales. I am glad Johnboy corrected that point, it is very upsetting to lose a bid opportunity on a 'rare' at the last minute.
The Cave has been a bit cold here in N.Y. GPW, with morning temperatures below 0 degrees Fahrenheit most of this week. BRRRRR Warmer days are coming I guess, but we lose an hour of Matchboxing by setting the clocks ahead tomorrow night....kwakers

as I promised, I show you some photos of my new 23c Caravan with maroon base plate. According my opinion it is 99,9999% genuine, it has:
- hitch type 1
- 1mm wide pillars
- small door hinge
- GPW ø8x18
- dome head rounded axle is OK
- maroon painting of the base plate is the same as e.g. the base plate of 27c Cadillac

The only "problem" is the door step. Typically models with the maroon base plate have a small door step, my model has the high door step. But as I remember, there are small variations even by the first models. E.g. 19a MG without painted seats, there are both variations, without/with the full hole for the spare wheel.

Perhaps this connection was the inspiration for a little bit odd base plate by 23c Caravan

Very nice model Antonin, my one has the small step in the doorway. But all the ones I have seen are like your model.

Mine also has the larger step, so nothing to worry about Antonin!
